IBM to acquire Vallent

Tuesday, November 28, 2006

IBM announced on Tuesday plans to acquire Vallent, a software developer for the wireless industry. Vallent, a privately held Bellevue, Wash.-based company, develops software designed to monitor network performance and provide service management.

Big Blue will integrate Vallent into its software group, expanding its Tivoli Software Netcool portfolio. The transaction aims to enhance Netcool's operations support system offerings, which targets communications service providers. IBM expects the acquisition to close in the first quarter. Financial terms were not disclosed.
