Micro-Star International (MSI) will showcase its first medical notebook that incorporates an electrocardiogram (ECG) monitoring function at the 2007 International CES in Las Vegas next week.
The notebook, tentatively named HATO (Heartbeat Audition Transceiver On-the-go), can constantly keep track of a patient's ECG and upload data via Wi-Fi to the hospital, which can then monitor and diagnose the user's condition in real time, the sources said.
The system has been developed in line with the motherboard maker's diversification into high-margin niche markets, the sources noted.
During CES, MSI will also display other products of its diversification, including the MS-5597 car-use navigation system and the D320 car-use digital TV, the sources said. The car-use TV, which supports 2GB SD/MMC cards, will hit the market at NT$8,000 (US$247) in the first quarter after CES, the sources added.
