Thursday, January 4, 2007

Japan's Elpida Memory Inc. has begun mass production of the DRAM industry's first 1-gigabit and 512-megabit DDR2 SDRAMs using 70-nanometer process technology.

Applications for the devices include high-end servers, high definition digital TVs, next-generation DVD recorders, digital single-lens reflex cameras and other digital consumer equipment.

Production of DDR2 SDRAM using 70-nm processing has already started, and the first product shipments are expected to begin in the first quarter of 2007
