Dell unveiled the latest lineup of a new home media system powered by Microsoft Vista during at CES in Las Vegas.
The Dell Home Media Suite is based on an XPS410 CPU, and comes with 2 gigs of memory, a massive 1 terabyte disc drive, along with the spiffy 27-inch monitor. The system also has the requisite wireless connectivity, a DVD burner and a new high definition cable television tuner. The tuner is capable of receiving digital cable signals as well as HD cable. Think of it as a built in TiVo that allows you to play, pause and record television. “But the real star of this system is this great new display,” Dell said ticking off its specifications. “It’s awesome.”
Other announcements from the Dell chairman included Dell DataSafe, an online data storage service that allows Dell customers to backup their data, photos, videos, whatever they have on their computers. When they buy a new Dell computer, Dell staff can even migrate all their settings and data onto a new system at the factory. The new computer arrives pre-loaded with all the old data and settings. Customers can also do the password-protected data migration themselves.
