AMD lowered its forecast for the fourth quarter amid lower average selling price of its products.
AMD announced revenue, excluding ATI-related segments, is expected to increase approximately 3 percent from the $1.33 billion reported in the third quarter of 2006.
Analysts expect AMD to have fourth-quarter earnings of $0.23 a share on revenue of $1.85 billion.
''Fourth quarter operating income, excluding ATI-related segments and acquisition-related charges, is expected to be positive but substantially lower than in the third quarter,'' according to AMD. ''The fourth quarter gross margin and operating income were impacted by significantly lower microprocessor average selling prices, which largely offset a significant increase in unit sales.''
