Chartered posted forth quarter gross profit $67.7 million on revenues of $339.1 million down 4.6 percent from Q3 and down 7.6 percent from the same quarter a year ago. The gross profit was down 28.5 percent sequentially from Q3's gross profits of $94.7 million and down from Q4 2005's gross profit of $88 million.
The foundry attributed the decline to weakness in the consumer sector and the communications sector, which, Chartered said, was partially offset by strength in the computer sector.
The company fared better in the big picture, however, with stronger overall 2006 results. Revenues were $1.41 billion, up 37 percent compared to $1.03 billion revenues the company posted in 2005. Chartered's gross profit in 2006 was $343.7 million, or 24.3 percent of revenues, an increase from $115.7 million, or 11.2 percent of revenues, the company made in 2005.
