Taiwanese foundry giants TSMC and UMC each reported this week that sales in January declined on both a year-to-year and sequential basis.
TSMC reported January sales of NT$20.9 billion (about $634 million) , down 6.8 percent sequentially and 20.3 percent year-to-year, the company said.
UMC said January sales amounted to NT$8.2 billion (about $249 million), down 1.6 percent sequentially and 2 percent year-to-year.
