New iPod likely a stop-gap solution 9/18/2006
A "teardown" analysis of Apple Computer Inc.'s new video iPod found very few hardware changes from the previous device, leading Wedbush Morgan Securities, which conducted the teardown, to conclude that the new video iPod is a "short-term, stop-gap device intended to buy Apple more time until it is ready to launch its true iPod Video later this year or early next year."
Freescale agreed to be acquired 9/18/2006
Freescale Semiconductor Inc. Friday (Sept. 15) said that it has agreed to be acquired by a private equity consortium in a transaction worth $17.6 billion. The consortium is led by The Blackstone Group, and includes The Carlyle Group, Permira Funds and Texas Pacific Group.
