AMD releases faster chip 5/15/2003
AMD introduced its fastest desktop processor, the Athlon XP 3200+ that runs with a 400-MHz front-side bus. The new processor is based on AMD's Barton core, which features a total of 640KB of on-die cache. Its operating frequency is 2.2 GHz, and AMD priced the chip at $464 in quantities of 1,000 units.
Wafer shipments down in 1st quarter 5/15/2003
